Designer and artist together working with each other to produce garments that represent different cultures this works well with my work i want to produes paterns and colours that sum up china in a garmtent after looking at there work i looked a traditional chinese style of dress this is when my design process started to come together i also looked at louis vuitton and his look at china. i wanted to produce a garment that was a more modern and sexier version of their fashion whilest still incorprating the traditional china style.

china vs england techniques

i looked at traditional chinese and english techniques and combined them with my work.
for china i looked at silk painting and embroidary
for england i looked at embroidary knitting and weaving
i tryed i link these techniques into my work on the history of china using lines and squares the squares link in with the patten on the soldiers from the terracotta army i think this works really well.

morris louis

morris louise is an artist i looked at who concentrates on the use of line in his work which worked and linked into my work very well i did my own version's of his work in my sketch book incorprating colours that linked in well to my project.

tiananmen square protests

i contiuned looking at line and china history which linked me in to the tiananmen square protests through the lines of people protesting. i also looked into the line of divition between the chinese army and the protesters there was a clear line of divition in the photos i have looked at.

oriental museum

i went to vistit the oriental museum were i was able to gather more information on china and the history of china i got a number of images from there on the terracotta army and on the fashions of china which i will be looking at later in my project.





i also found a statue of someone from the terracotta army in t-k-max this gave my another first hand image to work fromin my work.

i decided to do a photo shoot using army men as i cant get to china to see them my self i used lines of army men to get the same sort of effect here are some of my photos.

starting point - the terracotta army

i started my research into china with the terracta army i wanted to go down the history of china not the obvious things of flowers festivals and food. i looked at photos of the army and took from that lines the lines of them they all stood in lines i went on to produce samples using lines.
